Critical Role Campaign 4 Unveils the Warriors Table

Since the launch of Campaign 4, new Dungeon Master Brennan Lee Mulligan has kept viewers on edge with extensive world-building, a diverse cast of personalities, and a exciting storyline showcasing celestial beings, fiends, and dark forces increasing in power within the urban setting.

Heads-up: Key plot points for the third episode of this adventure lie ahead.

The Combat-Oriented Party Introduced

Episode 3 finished on a major cliffhanger and revealed the premier party of adventurers who will separate from the main group to undertake their independent quest, separate from the remaining groups.

The combat-focused team features the determined fighter (brought to life by Travis), the agile character (Laura), Tyranny (Whitney), the cleric (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan Vale (the actor).

Dividing the Cast

Given an extensive roster, it was clear from the start that having everyone at a single group would be unworkable.

That’s why, the initial installments of Campaign 4 serve as an Introduction, intertwining the characters’ stories before splitting into three separate parties: Fighters, Schemers, and Seekers.

The Nature of the Soldiers Table

Per the Dungeon Master, the warrior group is for adventurers who are drawn to a classically intense combat and conflict-driven narrative style where peaceful solutions are rare.

Upon first impression, figures such as the reluctant priest Wicander Halovar might appear mismatched, but the developments of the latest installment make it clear why these five characters are best suited for the warrior group.

Motivations for Departure

First, the team understands precisely where to proceed after a intense first encounter with the enemy group.

Casimir of the deceased character—whose death kicked off the narrative’s action—exploited The Crow Keepers for his selfish purposes, breaking into Thjazi’s hideout, attacking Thimble, and swiping all the enchanted items to dispose of.

Casimir then settled his debts and fled to a secure base in the northern region, above Dol-Makjar, with Cyd Pridesire pursuing him.

Personal Motivations

Additionally, each member has a personal reason to depart the metropolitan area:

  • The agile hero, as the companion and trusted friend, seeks retribution.
  • The adventurer knows Timmony and warns that it is a hostile place.
  • Tyranny and The healer, having defied his family’s wishes to eliminate the target and instead freed him, have nowhere else to go.
  • But, their position as prominent individuals in the influential clan could enable the team reach areas they typically wouldn’t be able to.
  • Furthermore, Teor swore a life debt to Wicander for his deliverance and will now accompany him everywhere.

Fugitives

Lastly, all of them are sought by the authorities that govern the city for a range of causes, making staying in the city too risky:

  • Thimble and The character are known criminals.
  • Tyranny and The cleric turned against the influential house and the legion of demons they are allied with.
  • The fighter is marked for death by the clan.

This leaves them few options but to travel to the remote area in quest for the antagonist.

Future Episodes

From the recent installment’s Cooldown, we discover that the Soldiers table will be absent next week, leaving the rest of the participants to assemble the Questers and Schemers groups.

Viewers can look forward to learning which players will be where in the season’s concluding setup installment, available to watch on October 24.
